Sure the bible says these things, but we don't the time or day it will occur (also in Matthew). As a meteorologist the hurricanes are more numerous and powerful due to the cycle of water temps in the ocean that go back and forth every 40-50 years. The last times this was the case in 1930-1960. Records show the from 1960-2000 there was a decline in hurricane numbers and intensity. Its just time for another cycle. The tornados are causes for the weather adjusting to the season. The weather usually takes a little while before adjusting. Over the past few weeks more Artic air has been moving south meeting the nice warm temps that most of midwest has been enjoying. This dynamic in temps allowed for rotation to cause the tornados. That is why spring is full of tornados. The midwest is trying to warm back up, but artic air continues to move in and clash. Its a phase the weather is going through. I do believe that world could be coming to an end, but we are not suppose to predict the end. The 7th day adventist have tried and failed way to many times.
" No one knows about the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven nor the son only the father." Matthew 24:36

Every time some natural disaster happens (or is looming), our great media makes us think the world is coming to an end (sounds fun ). I hardly call a couple tornadoes and hurricanes that are actual disasters (as opposed to a little property damage) something that marks the end of the world. Chances are, the world will end either when the sun goes supernova (or burns out, whatever) or when we finally develop a weapon strong enough to kill everything.
There is only one way to make them stop this fear-mongering nonsense; stop watching the news

Yeah I wasn't saying this is it. But honestly, if you follow global politics (especially the middle east) you can see how a lot of end times prophecy is starting to seemingly fall into place. Read in Ezekiel and you may see what I mean. People can feel free to PM me if they want me to elaborate fully.

Sorry man, but people have been able to "prove" this for decades. We're still here. It's coming eventually, but nobody knows when.

I'm not saying I can prove it or anything like that. Just that in my opinion, in conjunction with what I have studied out of the Bible, it seems as if it is coming rather soon. I won't even dare to say that I know, just giving my opinion.

if you want my opinion... the only time we are going to get to an end is when the sun has used up all its fuel.
and only if we're not colonizing the rest of the universe that is.
the bible is full of crap. the stories the brothers Grimm made up are more plausible.
but hey. what do i know.

I've not read the book but I watched a documentary on Channel 4 here in the UK about it. Sorry to burst your bubble but the book is NOT based on fact. The documentary was 2 hours long and it tore the entire book apart. The Priory of Scion was completely made up by and the person responsible had a vested interest in falsifying the documents that backed it up. He admitted to it in a televised interview. Dan Brown is just regurgitating old nonsense that has been disproved and making the public lap it up under the guise of it being based on 'fact'. And that's only one aspect of the book that's not true.
The Da Vinci code is partly based on the concept of Holy Blood, Holy Grail which was released some time around the 80s. Academics do not agree with that book either and it has been disregarded by the academic community.

Eh, the end times.. i wouldn't worry about them too much. Religion in some aspecs does coincide w/ nature. (ie science) and in some the don't. But to stay on topic... i don't think the recent geographic events would signify the end times.. I'd just say to keep on truck'n and look inside as well as.. showing what's there to the outside.

Now see this is just fricking funny... this Mental Giant thinks that only AMERICANS are polluting the world. Wow, give him a medal... he figured it out!
...see America we thought we could keep it a secret, but now this Rocket Scientist has discovered "The Plan" we are surely in for it!!
I am sure a Hummerâ„¢ which meets specifications mandated by EPA and Governmental emmission standards pollutes alot more than some cirica 1950's Caddilac which some 3rd world idiot keeps just trying to fix up while smoke and oil pours out of it. Yeah... it's just us polluting.
The whole sale burn off of the South American rain forest to sustain an ever increasing need for ranch land doesn't pollute. It is just burning wood, right? That doesn't pollute? It's just Americans!
The fact that a Middle East Dictator burned BILLIONS of gallions of oil straight into the atmosphere in noxious poisonous clouds doesn't cause as much pollution as my F-150... Or the fact that per capita there are more refineries without any kind of governmental pollution restrictions belching burn off into the air from the largest oil fields in the world...hell no, it's not America so it is not pollution!
Good job on the logic there Socrates... I secretly love it when some non-Americans bash America whenever they get the chance. It lets me know that we are still #1 because no one is jealous of #2.

It's not just the Americans that are polluting the planet, but Bush's stance on the Kyoto agreement demonstrates an unwillingness to admit that global warming is a serious problem. And that's not very encouraging when it's coming from the world's #1 superpower.

Luckily President Bush is not "every American" or "every American Politician" wether or not he agrees with the Koyoto Agreement is irrelevant. Global Warming is a fact and every environmental agency in the world is concerned with it... but this is moot as well because until every person on this planet does what is thier own personal responsibility to stop dmaging the environment, we are doomed.
Just us will be doomed... not Earth. It has been through much worse than us, and will continue on without us... when it is tired of us it is just going to shake us off like a bad case of fleas. How arrogant of Man to think he is capable of damaging the Earth beyond recovery.
An Ice Age will actually be good for this planet. Just not good for Mankind....
...so buy a sled.

End of days Somebody call the governor of CA.... Tell Arnold he must quit his job now and save the world again.... Come on people... they are tornadoes, they happen all the time. Remember that movie Twister? Wasnt that filmed to portray the events of a series of horrible tornadoes that destroyed the midwest about 15 years ago? Yes it was... Was that the end of the world? Nope. I live in the midwest, and storms like this happen all the time, any time. Hell it snowed on my graduation day, May 18th! Did we all panic and run around screaming,"Oh shit we are going to die!"? No. Weather is as unpredictable as terrorism. You never know when it will strike. It used to be tornadoes stuck to the alley too. Now that alley has turned into a freeway... Tornadoes are hitting all over the country.
Global warming is very real, and dangerous, but Im sure that I will never see the effects of this in my lifetime. Ive got a better chance at seeing Ted Williams thawed out and hitting again before Global warming becomes a real threat.
As far as the biblical reference goes...I do not wish to comment too much on a bunch of fairy tales. Rest assured, there will never truely be an end of days, as something or somebody will survive to carry on. And of course saying this on TV was a ratings scam... What else does TV have to offer but rumors about actors, Oprah gaining or losing weight again, and the world ending?

I have to disagree with you about Bush's stance being irrelevant but I completely agree that individuals need to be responsible.
You Americans sure gave up that #1 spot easily..

Somehow this thread wandered into both politics and religion. How? I don't know. But I'd rather not see it play out to its natural end state of flaming. Closed.
